Fused Quilt Landscapes
In this workshop, each participant will create a 12“ X 18” landscape art quilt. Students will look at a landscape, analyze it, and translate it to fabric using a variety of fused construction methods. This class covers fusible basics, working with non-traditional fabrics, quilting and binding the fused quilt.
Students could choose to include their quilts in the “What does it mean to be a part of the Upper Arlington community?” quilt show that has been displayed in various building in Upper Arlington. The content of the artwork reflects local issues and themes as identified by the student through research about his or her community. The importance of this project is placed on the process of art-making because of its ability to build relationships and involve all members of the neighborhood, helping to establish a collective identity.
